Yep . . . I woke up today at about 7 AM, peeked outside the tent . . . and there was sunlight and blue skies!! Miracles can happen!
I jumped out of the warm tent and commenced the pack up. First pull out the blankets and the sleeping bag. Then the laptop and Jackery battery pack. Then the light/fan unit . . . then the cookies!! Hey . . . a guy HAS to snack!! Next, lift the ladder, fold the tent over onto itself, climb up and tuck it all in, throw on the zippered cover, pull, everything tight, buckle over the straps . . . Ba-da Bing Ba-da Bang! I was ready to hit the street in 37 minutes, including some hot oatmeal and an orange juice!!
Glorious day . . . blue skies with fluffy white clouds, clear and dry, sun shining . . . now if just one fuzzy ole moose would step out of the woods!! I am not asking for much here!

I decided to get onto the Park Loop and circumnavigate this section of the Acadia National Park and head down towards Jordan Pond. The shorefront was really looking amazingly.

Cruising the coast, along a snaking, undulating road, through small fishing village after small fishing village was great fun. Everything here seems to revolve around the sea. Docks and wharves, shipyards and fish markets, stacks upon stacks of lobster pots and colorful floats . . . this is Maine at it’s finest . . . and American through and through . . . I have never seen the American flag proudly flown from more homes and businesses, small and large. Sorry South Carolina but they really have you beat!!

I checked into my hotel this afternoon, and quite frankly I cannot say enough about the Comfort Inn here in Ellsworth, Maine. The staff is wonderful and courteous, and the room is heaven, warm, clean and not damp!! I love the “not damp” thing!!
My concern now is getting into Canada. I applied on-line for my entrance visa in the midst of the Covid craziness. If you check on-line now all I apparently need to enter Canada is my passport and my documentation showing I have had the covid vaccinations and booster shots, which I have!! Yet, the organization that is supposed to be helping me with the entry now wants me to tell them where I will be staying in Canada, Street address, City, Province and Postal Code. I, as politely as I could, sent an email back to these intelligent people again, re-stating that I am not really staying in one place in Canada. I am traveling with a rooftop tent on my Subaru, staying at RV and tent camps in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador for about the next six weeks. I hope it works. Either way, I intend to show up at the Canadian border on the 21st and see what happens!! Not much else I can do!!
I will stay in touch . . . keep your fingers crossed for me!!
